Statistics Virtual Lab

The Virtual Lab will allow you to connect to a Server 2012 R2 virtual machine that has some of the common or difficult to install lab software on it. Campus IT has blocked remote desktop access from off campus. You must connect to the campus VPN, vpn.ncsu.edu before you try to connect from home.

Windows Users Connecting With Remote Desktop

  1. Download this file to your desktop.
  2. Double click it to open a connection.
  3. Login with ST\ before your userid (ST\unityid) when logging in.
  4. The password is NOT your email password.
    [The initial password is the last (4) digits of our student ID number, unless you have changed it in a previous ST class.]
    [You can change your password to match your email password by pressing <ctrl><alt><end> once logged into the VCL, however you will have to repeat these steps each time campus makes you change your password.]

Mac Users

  1. Download Free Microsoft Remote Desktop (version 8.0.18) from App Store. Other Remote Desktop programs may not work with our VCL configuration.
  2. Download this file to your Mac and import it into Microsoft Remote Desktop.
  3. Login with ST\ before your userid (ST\unityid) when logging in.
  4. The password is NOT your email password.
